What is a
merchant of record?
A merchant of record (MoR) is the legal entity that sells to the end customer: the name on the card statement, the party the bank holds responsible for the payment, and the one who deals with refunds, chargebacks, and payment compliance. Saleonix is that entity — so you don’t have to be.
The definition
When you sell online, someonehas to be the merchant: the entity authorized by an acquiring bank and the card networks to charge the customer’s card. That entity owns the transaction — receipts, refunds, disputes, records, and the compliance that comes with it. It can be you, with your own bank agreements and gateway contracts. Or it can be a merchant of record who resells your product on your behalf and hands you the proceeds. That second option is how platforms like Paddle, FastSpring, and the mobile app stores work worldwide — and it’s how Saleonix works.

FAQ
Merchant of record, answered
Do I need my own merchant account or bank agreement?
No. That is the whole point of the model — Saleonix holds the merchant account with BKT and the processing agreement with Payten. You sell through us and we resell on your behalf.
Whose name appears on my customer's card statement?
Saleonix. Because we are the merchant of record, the card transaction is legally between the customer and Saleonix (Vortarix LLC). Your brand still fronts the storefront, checkout, and receipts your customer sees.
Who handles refunds and chargebacks?
We do. As the merchant on the transaction, Saleonix executes refunds and fronts the dispute process with the bank. You'll see everything reflected transparently in your dashboard and balance.
How do I actually receive my money?
Every sale adds to your Saleonix balance after our per-transaction fee. You withdraw your available balance to your own bank account. See our pricing page for the exact rates.
Is this model used elsewhere?
Yes — it is an established, worldwide model. Platforms like Paddle, FastSpring, and Lemon Squeezy are merchants of record for software companies globally, and mobile app stores operate the same way for app purchases. Saleonix brings that model to businesses in Kosovo and the region.
What stays my responsibility?
Your product and your customers: delivering what you sold, honoring your own refund policy, and your business's own tax and accounting obligations. Saleonix gives you clean records and tax report tooling, but your accountant remains your accountant.
